Southwest Chapter

The Southwest Chapter of the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors was established in 1999 and its membership consists of many local professional land surveyors practicing in South-western Wisconsin.  Among other reasons, we decided to form a local chapter of land surveyors to help inform each other of important issues affecting our profession.  As a service to the profession and the general public the chapter undertook the project of reproducing the railroad right-of-way maps contained in the Wisconsin Commissioner of Railroads office (2002) and made digital copies available to interested parties. Other past projects of the chapter include reproduction of early county atlases and preservation efforts for various county survey records. Efforts continue for installation of a Point of Beginning reference monument at the STH 80 wayside at the Wisconsin/Illinois state border near Hazel Green. The chapter recently committed funds to help cover costs of restoration of the existing State of Wisconsin Historical Marker at the wayside.
